Haven't checked this in quite awhile and saw Nancy's comment. I thought I was the only one who got nostalgic!! :) I remember I'd get out the phonebook.

I want to make a documentary using my bro's films about the 60's era and the Jewish culture. Maybe we will at some point.

Thank you for the condolescences.

Was feeling nostolgic and googled my college roommates' name, Linda Neiderman, and stumbled on to this truly wonderful site/blog/whatever.
Although I knew Linda long after Alan's Bar Mitzvah,, I did get to know Janet and Nat a little bit, while visiting when I was home from school. It doesn't surprise me one bit that the Neidermans had a BM extravaganza I probably saw the pictures myself while staying at their home, but that was along time ago. if anyone could throw a party like that it would be Nat and Janet.

It's been quite some time, but Linda and I had some extravaganzas of our own during our college days!!!

I was so sorry to hear to about the passing of Linda's mom, Janet. You have my very deepest sympathies during this difficult time.

Hope your getting through with the help of your family and loving daughter.

warmest regard,

Janet Neiderman just passed away on Tuesday. She and her husband were founding members of the synagogue in Havertown where Alan observed his Bar Mitzvah. She will be missed by those who knew her. I came across this blog when I googled Alan's name. I was at the Bar Mitzvah ceremony and remember it because of my interest in film production, and ultimately video. Jan was at our synagogue quite a few years ago, and I told her then, that I had often hoped of getting a copy of the film and record set for the synagogue archives. My condolences go to the Niederman family.

I couldn't agree more. And "touching" is exactly the right word.

Hello everybody
i came across the recording of alan's barmitzvah, and find it delightful and touching (is it the word, i am french..) It reminds my own ceremony and dinner, some years ago...
In fact, this unique and private event (i mean the one you've post) became by the magic of internet (and the mdigital manipulatins of Mr Bostrom) a public phenomenon, and could be considered as an ethnologic subject. So i think that this post deserves a great consideration. You can study modern jewish social life through this recording.
I don't remember what was the orchestra during my B-M, but i'll surely remember Jay jerome. We are also curious of the film that was shot this day. If Mrs Niederman Silver could give us a few moments of the movie, it would be nice.
We 'll be glad aqlso to hear a bit of the family, bur maybe it's too personal??
bye for france, and keep on
Serge
