Hi -- have I got a postcard or two for you... especially seeing as how you like to travel SR89, formerly US89. Which, BTW, was the major route from border to border (North & South) at one time.

Let me rephrase.

It's not that I don't know Flagstaff; it's that I don't know its SECRETS.

I do love the funky "downtown, which retains much of the flavor of its origins as a major railroad hub for the lumber industry of 100 years ago.

Now you're going to make me drive up there.

Flagstaff is a wonderful mix of college students (NAU), college employees, hippies, and blue collar workers living together in the world's largest ponderosa pine forest. The townsfolk have done a good job of maintaining historic downtown and forcing the big box retailers to the edges of the city. Derrick would be most interested in the architecture of downtown (some 100 year old buildings, some with the name Babbit on them) as well as the architecture of the classic hotels that line Old Highway 66. In the late 80's I saw Meat Puppets a few times at a bar downtown called Monsoons. It later became a CD store and is now once again, I think, a bar (though I don't know it's name). I recommend Macy's European Coffee House for a cup of joe.

Nah; I always stop in Sedona.

The whole "Grand Canyon" thing was just a gimmick. I don't know Flag all that well.
