For many years, my uncle, a lawyer, had offices in the most prestigious building in town -- the Luhrs Tower. Of course, in those days, the Westward Ho (a classy hotel in the day) was another skyline landmark. However, if you really want to investigate an interesting Phoenix architectural phenomenon, you should look into Ms. Hattie Moser and her strange properties. She used to bicycle around town to check her holdings & visit people. As I recall, she once told my uncle that there was nothing she enjoyed more than a good lawsuit. (Her buildings tended to be built right on -- or over -- the lot line, just to make things interesting...)
