Well, I liked them — not sure how they hold up today. We got to meet them and Copperfield backstage.

Copperfield got really mad when a stagehand showed us how one of his tricks worked. Oops. We were just standing there, and the stagehand goes, pssst! — and showed us a trap door in his disappearing tiger trick.

PLEASE tell me there really is a “Junior Samples NOW!” album in existence.

Great post as usual. Nice to know someone else enjoys finding these “old fogeys get down and funky for the younger folks” albums in the shops.

My uncle owns a casino in Nevada, and back in the 70s I was sitting in the dinner theater, waiting to see Shields & Yarnell and David Copperfield. An older gentleman was sitting opposite me, and it was Les Brown.

He was tickled that I added “and his Band of Renown?” when he told me his name.
